Upcoming Artist Demonstrations:

Saturday, June 21, 12:30 – 3:30

Mike Mc Connell will be doing a wood turning demonstration, sharing the turning technique with his lathe and equipment in the Gallery. He will be creating toy tops, honey dippers and bowls, as well as engaging in audience conversation and questions.

Friday, June 27, 12:00 – 3:00

Isabelle Renaud, award winning oil artist, will be doing a still life painting demonstration. Renaud's oil paintings lovingly and skillfully depict the beauty found in the ordinary objects, and landscapes, that surround us. She is affiliated with the Artists' Society of Dearborn, Visual Arts of Livonia, Great Lakes Plein Aire Painters Association, East Shore Art Guild, Detroit Society of Woman Painters and Sculptors, and the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center (Padzieski Gallery Docent).

Friday, July 11, 3:00 – 5:00

James Okasinski will be presenting a framing and matting demonstration, with extra materials for participants to practice with. Using a 35mm camera, Okasinski personally develops all his film and prints it the old fashion way, in the darkroom. The fine developing hand craft found in Okasinski’s photographs is also found in his mat work and professional equipment used. This is a great demonstration for teachers and artists who would like to learn more about the presentation process.

Saturday, July 12, 1:00 – 3:00

Ralph Redmond will be demonstrating foundation watercolor principals, combining the wet medium of watercolor with the dry medium of chalk pastels. Redmond is a Detroit native who studied art at the Detroit Institute of Arts and later attended Hillsdale College’s Fine Arts School and Wayne State University. His work has been featured in several Florida museums and he exhibits regularly in art festivals and shows throughout Florida and Michigan. His work is also found in several private collections in both the U.S. and Canada

Saturday, July 18, 12:00 – 6:00

Lynne Freitag will be presenting the basics of felting, with a focus on beading and painting the felt.

As a child, Freitag was introduced to sewing and needlework by a wonderful neighbor and has been creating ever since. She later taught herself the basics of felting and it was a natural step to combine felting and beadwork. Her interest in beads started in the days of “hippie beads” and “flower children.”
